The Fairfield Rotary Club donation will allow MFY to purchase a number of instruments for the Band program at the High Horizons and Multicultural Magnet schools in Bridgeport. These instruments will allow an additional eight students to join the band program this year. Music for Youth feels that engagement in music education at these early ages promotes self confidence, attention, focus and communication, all those skills that are essential for academic and social success. The physical engagement that electrifies the emotional and intellectual pathways in the brain has been well documented. Through music education we are building life skills and community. We thank the Fairfield Rotary, the Amalia and Nicola Giuliani Foundation and the R.T. Vanderbilt Foundation for helping us bring these programs and tools to the Bridgeport Schools.
