Gleb Ivanov

Gleb Ivanov is a multi-talented musician who began accompanying his vocalist father on the piano at the age of eight, but who also plays the accordion and holds a degree in clarinet as well as his degree in piano from the Moscow Conservatory. He is already well known as a virtuoso pianist in Russia, having played with the Moscow State Orchestra, at the Great Hall at the Moscow Conservatory, and at the Kremlin. He has toured with and played under the baton of the great Rostropovich, and has performed in the Pushkin, Glinka and Scriabin Museums.

After winning many important prizes in Moscow and Kiev , Ivanov won the 2005 Young Concert Artists International Auditions here in New York. He has been touring all over the New York, Washington, and Boston areas in 2005 and 2006 to wide acclaim. Gleb Ivanov has been described as “a cut above the usual, with a certain musical sensitivity and an appreciation of style to go with the thunder and lightning”. And thunder and lightening there is! This giant of a pianist “nearly overwhelmed the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater…with a pianistic assault”! His musicianship and powerful technique will inspire our young audience at the Pequot Library.

After his performance for Music for Youth, he will offer free master classes.
