Soo Bae
Born in Korea, Soo Bae began her cello studies at age six, and then moved to Toronto, where she studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music from the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and then her Masters Degree and Artists Diploma from the Juilliard School. She debuted with the Korean Canadian Symphony at age eleven, and has since appeared with orchestras in Canada, the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

She has appeared in concert throughout Asia and Europe, as well as at Alice Tully Hall in New York , and has toured with the “Musicians from Marlboro” chamber music series. She is a member and co-founder of the “Fideo Trio”, and is currently recording her debut CD on the Naxos label. In 2005 Ms. Bae won the coveted 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, and in 2006 became the first Canadian ever to be awarded a prize at the Sixth Adam International Cello Festival and Competition in New Zealand . She teaches at the Geneva Conservatory in New York and at the Juilliard School, where she is an assistant to Mr. Joel Krosnick. Described as a “first class musician”, she is “one of a very small group of excellent cellists about to emerge on the scene today”.
After her performance for Music for Youth, she will offer free master classes on the cello.
