Boston Lyric Opera

Founded in 1976, the Boston Lyric Opera is dedicated to presenting excellent opera productions which feature new singers and which educate all ages in the community about opera. Their outreach work includes a 2002 performance of Bizet's "Carmen" on the Boston Common to an audience of 140,000 people in two evenings!

On April 14, members of the BLO's excellent traveling troupe will give two performances - 1:30 and 3:30 at Trinity Church in Southport -
of Rossini's famous comic opera "The Barber of Seville". The one-hour opera, sung in English in full costume, tells the story of disguise and intrigue in which Figaro, the town barber, helps Count Almaviva win the love of the lovely Rosina away from her old guardian, Bartolo, who wants her for
himself. Children of all ages will love this presentation of the well-known story, made accessible to all without losing any of its charm and beauty.
