Free Concerts

Exciting musical experiences are in store for children and their parents at this monthly series of FREE Young Persons’ Concerts at Pequot Library.

The concerts are played by prize-winning soloists or ensembles, especially chosen for their skill in communicating with young people.

The programs include engaging performances of classical music and music from faraway lands, always designed with children in mind.
The season, which runs from September through April, offers a variety of classical programming: piano or violin soloists (with master classes afterwards), string quartets, piano trios, brass or woodwind quintets, as well as traditional music from other cultures, such as Chinese opera for children, an Afghan orchestra, taiko drumming from Japan, as well as the music of Mexico.

The Pequot Library in Southport, Connecticut, is the setting for these concerts which take place on Saturday afternoons at 2 pm.  No tickets or reservations are needed for entry; just bring a child.

Concert length is approximately 50 minutes, and seating is available for all.

Programs are recommended for ages 5 to 17.  They include audience participation and the chance for some lucky children to win door prizes.
