Lavrova/Primakov piano Duo
March 10th, 2018
Lavrova/Primakov Duo was Founded in 2010 by two Juilliard-trained concert pianists who both began their studies in Moscow, Russia. Natalia Lavrova and Vassily Primakov are both young stars of the last generation to descend from the Great Russian Conservatory tradition.
They have performed extensively in the US, most recently at the University of Vermont Lane Series in Burlington, Manchester Music Festival, Artist Series of Tallahassee, multi-concert tour of the state of Georgia and a month long South African tour, and have garnered numerous critical accolades. "Like the talented and imaginative chefs they are, they work wonders with ingredients given…dazzling display by two phenomenal pianists." - Fanfare.
In November 2011, Ms. Lavrova and Mr. Primakov established their own record label, LP Classics, an initiative committed to unearthing lost historical gems, presenting never-before released recordings, and enriching the discographies of emerging stars of new generation. “We feel that our strength is in being two, very individual performers, long standing friends and collaborators and this keeps us constantly grounded in promoting projects we feel a responsibility toward. We enter every situation, concert and project with a level of pride, respect and devotion and we sincerely hope that this will translate to our future listeners.”
Albums include: the little-known Suites for Two Pianos by Anton Arensky (LP Classics 1001); second album released in July 2013 (LP Classics 1010) with four-hand music of Milhaud, Czerny, Corigliano and Schubert; a Live disc from the Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival (LP Classics 1015), with two-piano repertoire by Scriabin, Brahms, Busoni and Liszt, the Suites and Symphonic Dances of Sergey Rachmaninoff (LP Classics 1019) and most recently Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 arranged for two-pianos.
